LA TRAGÉDIE DE SALOMÉ

Florent Schmitt

Scheduled at: Théâtre de Rungis, Opéra d'Avignon, Théâtre de l'Athénée

Les Apaches revive this masterpiece in its original version, rarely recorded. Although the myth of Salome has inspired many composers (Richard Strauss, Jules Massenet), Florent Schmitt will not create an opera like his contemporaries, but a choreographic spectacle centered on the figure of the dancer Loïe Fuller. "At once a kind of symphonic poem that is danced and a symphony that is seen," this silent drama reflects all facets of Salome's personality. On the recording, the work will be introduced by a Prologue to Salome and a delicate Loïe composed by Fabien Touchard.
